We are thrilled to be a drop off location for the 2019 United Way of East Mississippi's Stuff the Bus campaign!
What is Stuff the Bus?
Stuff the Bus is an event, created by United Way, that collects school supplies and new/gently used uniforms for local students in need. On July 18th, there will be a school bus parked at Bonita Lakes Mall and Raising Cane's on North Hills Street--the goal is to get the bus stuffed with as many school supplies and uniforms possible!
If you have children in school, you know that school supplies aren't cheap. It is estimated that the average cost for one students school supplies is $200 a year! Almost 50% of students show up to school empty handed because their parents cannot afford to buy them the supplies needed. This event is so important because we want to show these students that they can and will have what they need to succeed this school year!
What does it mean to be a drop off location?
United Way asks local businesses to be drop off locations to make it more convenient for you! People are much more likely to give when they don't have to drive across town to drop off their donation. So, next time you're driving downtown or pass Mr. Rodger's, stop by our office and drop off those new/gently used uniforms, school supplies, or monetary donations!
"What's in it for me," you might ask?
Well, other than knowing you're helping a local student succeed in school, if you stop by our office to make a donation--we will give you an awesome, free Pearson and Company t-shirt!! Also, if you're out and about on July 18th and make a donation at Raising Canes on North Hills Street, you will be entered to win FREE Cane's for a YEAR!
Help us, help our local students and schools start the 2019 school year with a bang! If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to call our office or contact Tate Dye at the local United Way office (601) 693-2732.
